These are experimental boats plans that I came up with. If anyone builds one of these boats, please send pics and building and performance reports. Plans include offsets for the panels and some drawings. You will need to do up your own seating arrangements and rigging if applicable. Designs are for Stitch and Glue building method. These are boats I would like to build, but do not have the storage space for them once they have been completed.

PodYak is a Peapod shaped kayak. It comes in both a flat bottom version and a Vee bottom version. Both are capable of carrying about 290 lbs. Stitch and glue, the boats should weight about 30-40 lbs. The deck panels are the same as the bottom panels, but can be swapped around (Vee upper deck with flat bottom or visa versa).

Flat Bottom Version

PodYakFlat is a simple Kayak with a flat top and bottom. It is 14 feet long, and has a max width of just over 30 inches. It has a capacity of 325 lbs, with a weight of approximately 45-55 lbs, if ¼” ply is used. If 1/8” ply is used, it will be significantly lighter, on the order of 25-35 lbs. Interior stiffeners will be needed, and a hole cut in the top panel for the paddler with a seat or pad installed inside. I recommend that air chambers be installed in the ends, for flotation. Construction is of Stitch and Glue.

Vee Bottom Version

It has a capacity of 325 lbs, with a weight of approximately 45-55 lbs, if ¼” ply is used. If 1/8” ply is used, it will be significantly lighter, on the order of 25-35 lbs.
